A Forest Walk | |

A walk begins on the bridge over Aleja Kazimierza Jagiellonczyka in Steżycka street by the sign “ścieżka rowerowa 20m” (cycling track 20m). At first the path winds in a beautiful, mixed forest, up and down. Then it becomes wider, but we are still riding in the forest along Kielpino Gorne. Next the track turns left and we go deeper into the forest and get to the forest gate, which we pass on the left. The dirt road goes up there, you may have to push the bike , alike walking elsewhere. The road may ocassionally be covered in horse shoe traces, due to being used for horse riding (no traffic). We reach the blue trail, after a while turn right up. After a few hundred metres the path becomes narrow and the forest thick. You have to watch out for the roots and sand. You’ll see a wooden hut for feeding the forest animals and next you’ll reach a wide dirt road – right to Sulmin, left to Otomin beach ( old oak trees) and a lake. There’s a bar 200 m left off the beach, where you can have a snack or drink. Return to the beach and follow the black trail along the right side of the lake. The path is first wide and easy to ride, yet later half way along the lake, the terrain becomes wild, the path narrow, from time to time blocked across by the old trees. Then you have to walk, but it’s worthwhile for the nearness and beauty of Otominskie lake. When you reach the end of the lake, turn left along the green trail and go down. Careful! On the bottom of the slope may be a lying tree or sand! Then the green trail goes along the shore leading to a cape. There one can find steep hill, presumably the remainings of an ancient fort. The cape is ideal for relaxing and swimming in the summer. Along the lake we return from the cape, through the forest get to Otomin (with some grocery shops). From there you turn right and go to asphalt road ( Lubowidzka street). From Szadolki, along Jabloniowa street, go back to Gdansk. Riding all the track takes approximately 2-3 hours and will truly give you unforgettable feelings, for the terrain variety, great forest and Otominskie lake. |
